Expertise:
I have over 15 years
experience in the area of agriculture marketing working with
smallholder farmers in both government and non state organizations. She
has Masters Degree in Agriculture Economics, majoring in Project
planning and Appraisal, Macro Policy and adjustment, Trade Technology
and Trans-national cooperation, markets and Development, and
Quantitative methods. My
research interest is smallholder agriculture marketing, development of
pro-poor marketing information systems in combination with agriculture
commodity exchanges, and agro-processing.
Professional/ Work Experience:
From 2004 to date I am the Project Manager for Malawi Agriculture Commodity Exchange with IDEAA Malawi in Lilongwe. Between
2002 to 2004, she was Project Manager for Cassava
Commercialization project with IDEAA Malawi as National Coordinator. In 2000-2002 worked as an Economist at Malawi Agriculture Sector Investment Program of Ministry of Agriculture, Malawi For
10 years (1990-2000) she worked as an Economist/Senior Economist with
Ministry of Agriculture working with smallholder farmers in Malawi
including implementation of agriculture marketing liberalization and
agriculture trade issues at the regional level while with Ministry of
Agriculture as an economist. In
1997-2000 participated in the implementation of an integrated community
project in Dowa District in three villages in Chisepo as a fellow of
IDEAA with Bunda College of Agriculture. In
1992/3 was involved in the preparation of Government of Malawi end of
project report for Agriculture Marketing and Estate Development Project
funded by World Bank. In
November-December 2000 undertook a two months marketing
consultancy with FAO Malawi office which involved development of
strategies and training of farmers as well as front-line extension
staff for the Special Program on Food Security Project.
