Expertise: I hold a masters degree in clinical psychology and have worked as a
clinical psychologist in a psychiatric institution for seven years.
This is where I developed a research interest focusing on psychotherapy
with schizophrenics. I am currently researching African worldviews of
mental health and illness and how these frameworks can be tapped into
to reinvogarate psychology curricular that is contextually relevant to
Africa. Research interests have recently included gender issues within
the mental health field. I am currently busy with a PhD study
that explores the experiences of nurses providing termination of
pregnancy (abortion) services within the public health sector in South
Professional/ Work Experience: I joined UNISA in 2003 and a large part of my responsibilities is to
create research opportunities for masters students and to supervise
their research projects.
