The paper compares China’s and Brazil’s export structure in the Latin American market, thus evaluating how the presence of the Asian country has had an impact on Brazil's export performance. Furthermore, the article seeks to identify potential areas in which Chinese exports may impact Brazil’s competitiveness levels. This being said, the authors argue that Chinese exports, especially manufacturing, can affect Brazil’s performance in the regional market, hence representing a potential threat to Brazilian exports.
The article is divided into four main sections. After a brief introduction, the second section examines the performance of Chinese exports globally over recent years, whilst the third section compares China’s and Brazil’s export structure in Latin America. Finally, chapter four presents the final considerations of the authors.
To conclude the researchers argue that the results revealed that Chinese export performance in Latin America has been greater than that of the Brazilian economy.
