| UNESCO Bangkok is a
regional co-operative program designed to promote basic education for
Asia and Pacific region and to stimulate experimentation, innovation
and policy dialogue. The
overall aim of APPEAL is to promote lifelong learning through the
integration of all aspects of educational planning including literacy,
universal primary education and continuing education. Although
APPEAL focuses mainly on non-formal adult education, it covers formal
primary education, lifelong learning through the integration of all
aspects of educational planning including: - early childhood care and education
- literacy and continuing education
- street children
- inclusive education
- education and human rights
Integrating UNESCO's global strategy, APPEAL is emphasizing gender mainstreaming in all of its programs.
APPEAL's programs are implemented through networks of governmental,
non-governmental and private institutions and agencies involved in the
promotion of basic education and lifelong learning examples; APPEAL
Resource and Training Consortium (ARTC), Community Learning Centers
(CLCs), Gender in Education Network in Asia (GENIA), and more. |
