The Indian Pugwash Society was established in August 1967 to promote the study, discussion and knowledge of and to stimulate general interest in, and to diffuse knowledge in regard to problems relating to science and world affairs.
The Society is also associated with Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs which is following the moving spirit of Russell-Einstein Manifesto and the Pugwash movement of scientists that was honoured by the Nobel Peace Prize in 1995. It receives an Annual Grant from the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, for carrying out its activities.
