The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) is a research institute on international issues and is an independent, non-government think-tank whose purpose is to increase awareness of the importance of international affairs. The Institute produces policy briefs and conducts workshops and conferences.
Some of the Institute’s goals include:
- making constructive policy input
- stimulating informed public debate
- building leadership and research excellence in Africa
The Institute’s activities include:
- making input into policy development locally and internationally
- undertaking research on current issues of importance to Africa generally and South Africa specifically
- developing linkages and joint programs with international organizations and agencies throughout the world
- maintaining a resource center and reference library (that is a United Nations repository as well as a World Bank Development Information Centre) for students and scholars of international relations
The website houses various tabs with information on research, experts, publications, events, youth programs, memberships, and contact details. A number of papers can also be found online in addition to toolkits, a library, job opportunities, funders, and annual reports among other things. |
