| IDRC is a public corporation created in 1970 by the Parliament of Canada and directed by an international board of governors. It is a research, publishing and funding organisation, promoting research on the interests of developing countries. (a) WWW / gopher site: with information on IDRC programmes, publications and links to other Internet services. Includes full text of IDRC Reports journal, selected IDRC books (under section called Focus Collection), reports from Water Testing Technologies programme (b) INDIX project: collecting directory information on development projects: (see separate entry on Development Activity Information (DAI) /INDIX) (c) Pan Asian Networking (PAN): IDRC's Asian research centre, based in Singapore (see separate entry) (d) Development Databases Service: service hosting databases for development organisations. This service was withdrawn in 1996 (e) Slide Bank: provides access to about five thousand 35mm colour slides (converted to JPEG format graphic files) on the general topic of economic and social development. Although most of these are related to IDRC-funded projects, some slides are of more general interest. Nearly all the slides in IMAGES are relatively recent, having been taken within the last 7 years. Database can searched within IDRC library only (searches/duplication of images on demand: contact library) |
