The FEMISE network includes more than 80 members (research institutes concerning economics). FEMISE is funded by the European Commission and is associated with L'Institut de la Méditerranée (France) and Economic Research Forum (ERF) in Egypt. FEMISE has three main objectives: - To develop a policy oriented approach
- to encourage cooperation and collaboration between economic institutes of both the North and the South
- provide a repository of studies, methodologies and sectoral approach concerning the socio-economic reality of the Euro-Mediterranean region, to members of the network
One of the main activities of the network, is concentrating on the following research themes: - Mediterranean agriculture
- International capital fluxes and services in the region
- Impact of free exchange mechanisms
- Effect of transition on the poorest
- Consequences of monetary union on the region
- Consequences of the enlargement of the Union for the Mediterannean region
