Expertise: Sociology. Research interests are in the areas of sociology of
development, poverty analysis, technology impact assesment, urban
sociology, law and governance, and clmate change.
Professional/ Work Experience: I obtained a Ph.D in sociology from the University of Hyderabad. My
dissertation work was published by Oxford University Press as
""Collective Violence in a Provincial City"". I have worked for the
International Crops Research Institute for the Semiarid Tropics
(1995-97), and have been based at the Department of Humanities and
Social Sciences, at the IIT Bombay since 1997. I have carried out
research projects in the areas of urban violence, socieconomic and
environmental impacts of technology, poverty, and impacts of climate
change.
