Connect South: GDNet’s commitment to southern researchers
GDNet has launched Connect South to encourage members of the development research and policy communities to adopt a more inclusive approach to southern researchers’ knowledge. The Connect South campaign calls on people and organizations working in development to pledge their support and re-establishes GDNet’s own commitments to southern researchers
We need knowledge and experience from the South to inform responses to global problems. Join us by signing up to the Connect South Charter of Commitment and pledge how you will help southern research have a greater impact. We’ll even send you our own GDNet stamp of approval to show off on your website.

GDNet has long been aware of the barriers that southern researchers experience when trying to inform global debates on development with their knowledge. The Connect South Charter of Commitment is our pledge to addressing these barriers and creating an enabling environment for southern researchers to communicate their work better and more widely. We hope the charter will inspire you to pledge your own commitments through the Connect South LinkedIn Group.
Join us on LinkedIn, make your pledge and engage with other researchers, research organizations and networks who share the same passion. Organizations might promise to:
create a web link to the GDNet Charter of Commitment
co-host events and seminars to discuss the issues facing southern researchers
contribute to blogs and online discussions that focus on research communication and uptake
feature on the Connect South wall of fame web page
become a media partner and hosting content on the campaign
Southern researchers might promise to:
participate in social media and spread the word to their networks
submit their research to knowledge intermediaries and communication channels
participate in online and offline events, networks and discussions
register or update their profiles with GDNet
Sharing knowledge, making a difference and fostering connections between researchers and decision-makers are at the heart of the Connect South campaign. We cannot achieve our ambitions alone so we’re seeking others who think the same way. These collaborations could range from co-hosting policy influence events with think tanks and research networks, to exchanging best practice with other knowledge intermediaries. Contact us to find out how you can become an official campaign partner.
